About

Who we are

ITaobuy Buying Trail is a small editorial desk based in Singapore, founded in 2021 by Marcus Yeo. We cover one narrow subject: what actually happens between placing a first order on the ITaobuy trail and watching a consolidated parcel leave the warehouse. Order confirmation, intake scans, storage clocks, QC photo requests, packing weights, line selection and the final handoff — each gets timed, photographed and written up.

We are three editors, and we buy the items ourselves. The desk keeps a running log of order numbers, warehouse ticket times and courier events, and every guide we publish is built from that log rather than from a press sheet.

Why the trail, and not the catalog

First-time buyers rarely fail because of the product page. They lose days to a warehouse that logs a parcel on the fourth day, a consolidation request filed before the last item lands, or a packed weight that quietly changes the shipping line they planned to use. Our work is to make those checkpoints visible before a reader spends money.

How we work

Every published trail is backed by an order we placed, a timestamp we recorded and, where the parcel reached us, a weight and measurement taken on the workroom bench. We publish the waiting days we saw, including the dull ones. When a step is slow, the write-up says it is slow.

About Marcus Yeo

Marcus founded the desk in Singapore in 2021 after a decade spent on the operations side of cross-border e-commerce, where he tracked warehouse intake windows and merge queues for a regional forwarder. He writes the trail frameworks the rest of the desk tests against, keeps the master timestamp log, and personally re-runs any guide whose checkpoint numbers move.

  • Packed weight versus volumetric weight
  • Shipping line comparison for small parcels

Career timeline

2013
Joined a regional parcel forwarder as an operations analyst
2017
Became warehouse intake lead, owning merge-queue scheduling
2021
Founded ITaobuy Buying Trail in Singapore
2024

Credentials

  • Certified Supply Chain Analyst · Regional Institute of Logistics Professionals · 2016
  • Customs Compliance for Cross-Border Parcels (short course) · Singapore Trade Academy · 2019

How I test

Marcus builds each guide as a timeline first: order confirmation, intake scan, storage clock, merge request, QC set, packed weight, line choice, handoff. He places the order himself, keeps the confirmation receipt, and refuses to publish a window he has not seen twice on separate orders. When a step is slow, the write-up says so.

Reviews Editor

About Clara Nwosu

Clara joined the desk in 2022 from a consumer-testing desk where she ran unboxing benches for small electronics. She runs the Singapore workroom: the calibrated scale, the steel rule, the photo booth and the comparison tables. Every packed weight and measurement published on the site passes her bench before it goes live.

  • Packed weight versus billed weight
  • QC photo request grading
  • Parcel measurement and repack checks
  • Shipping line cost per kilogram comparisons
  • Unboxing documentation and chain of custody

Career timeline

2016
Started as a bench tester for a consumer electronics review desk
2019
Took over unboxing and measurement workflows for the same desk
2022
Joined ITaobuy Buying Trail as Reviews Editor
2025

Credentials

  • Practical Metrology for Small Parcels · Singapore Weights and Measures Training Centre · 2020
  • Product Photography for Review Desks · Nanyang Media Workshop · 2021

How I test

Clara opens every parcel on camera, weighs it twice on a calibrated scale, measures all three dimensions with a steel rule, and grades the agent's QC set on angle, lighting and whether seals and labels are legible. She runs at least two shipping lines per order and scores only items she has handled, on a five-point scale.

Research Editor

About Rafael Duarte

Rafael keeps the desk's order archive: confirmation receipts, support thread timestamps, agent reply intervals and the version history behind every comparison table. He came to the desk in 2023 from a market research firm where he built timing studies for delivery networks, and he translates those habits into trail work, one order at a time.

Expertise

Order timing records, agent response measurement and comparisons across test runs
  • Agent response interval measurement
  • Order archive and test-run tagging
  • Comparison table construction
  • Sampling rules for repeated trail orders
  • Consolidation request timing studies

Career timeline

2018
Research assistant building delivery timing studies for a market research firm
2021
Promoted to research analyst, owning timing datasets for logistics clients
2023
Joined ITaobuy Buying Trail as Research Editor
2025
Introduced test-run tagging across the desk's order archive

Credentials

  • Certificate in Applied Research Methods · Singapore Institute of Applied Social Research · 2018
  • Data Handling and Records Retention · Regional Institute of Logistics Professionals · 2022

How I test

Rafael timestamps every support message and agent reply to the minute, tags each order with its test run, and rebuilds comparison tables from the raw log rather than from memory. He flags any checkpoint where two runs disagree by more than a day and sends the case back to the bench for a third order.
