Polo Ralph Lauren Multicolor Shorts Collection Review: An ITaobuy First-Order Trail, Three Colourways and a Repack Worth 1.1 kg

We ran a first ITaobuy order for three colourways, logged every checkpoint from purchase to courier handoff, graded the agent's QC photos and found a repack that cut 1.1 kg of billable weight.

Polo Ralph Lauren Multicolor Shorts Collection Review: An ITaobuy First-Order Trail, Three Colourways and a Repack Worth 1.1 kg
Published 30 October 2026

This is a $6.27 summer short: thin polyester, no stretch, an all-over 3D print and a straight hem, listed in seven colourways and sizes S through 5XL with a stated 1–2 cm measurement tolerance. We bought it the way a first-time buyer would, paying with the desk's own money and logging the order from the confirmation screen through to the courier handoff, so the review is as much about the trail as the garment. Three size L pairs — navy, white and red — were ordered in one cart on a Monday morning and consolidated into a single parcel.

What we ordered, and what the checkpoint log shows

Every timestamp below is ours, taken from the order screens and the warehouse messages rather than reconstructed afterwards. The trail on this order ran three days, nine hours and twenty-eight minutes from confirmation to handoff, which is a fair benchmark for a first purchase where nothing needed chasing.

The two lines we asked for quotes on were both priced off the same 610 g packed weight. The faster line quoted materially more for an identical parcel, so we kept economy and put the difference towards a second colourway. That is the practical arithmetic of a cheap item: the garment is a rounding error next to the freight, and the only real lever you have is consolidating more than one pair.

The agent's six QC frames, graded

We grade QC sets on three things: whether the angles cover the parts that fail, whether the lighting shows the print and the seams honestly, and whether seals and labels are legible enough to confirm what was actually pulled.

This set came back as six frames — full front, full back, a waistband close-up, a hem close-up, one print detail and one shot of the bagged item on the scale. Front, back and hem were useful; the print detail was taken at an angle with flash, which flattened the texture and made registration look cleaner than it is. The scale reading in the bagged shot was legible in all six, and the inner label was readable in two of six. If a label matters to you, ask for a flat, straight-on frame of it before the parcel is sealed.

Measurements against the stated tolerance

We measured each pair flat with a steel rule, then re-measured the waist a second time after opening the drawstring. The listing promises a 1–2 cm tolerance, and this is where that promise gets tested.

Colourway (size L)Flat waistInseamHem openingWeight
Navy39.0 cm17.5 cm27.0 cm168 g
White39.8 cm17.5 cm27.5 cm166 g
Red41.0 cm18.0 cm27.0 cm171 g

The 2.0 cm spread between the navy and red pairs sits at the very edge of the published tolerance, and on a zero-stretch waistband that is the difference between comfortable and not. Weighing twice on the calibrated scale showed a 5 g spread across the three colourways, which is inside what print coverage alone can explain. Because the fabric has no give, order by flat measurement rather than by letter size, and ask the agent to confirm the waist on the specific colourway you chose.

Consolidation: the repack that halved the billable weight

This was the checkpoint that mattered most. Three pairs plus polybag weighed 540 g; sealed in the warehouse's default carton the parcel weighed 610 g. That carton measured 34 × 26 × 12 cm, which computes to a volumetric weight of about 1.77 kg. We were about to pay for a parcel almost three times heavier than its contents.

Consolidation asked for a smaller box; the team came back with 30 × 21 × 6 cm, a volumetric weight of roughly 0.63 kg. The parcel then billed on its actual 0.61 kg instead. That single request cut about 1.1 kg of billable weight on a $6.27 item.

Our note to the consolidation desk: three thin pairs, no boxes inside, fold flat, smallest carton that fits — and re-weigh after packing, not before.

If you are ordering one pair only, skip the carton entirely and ask for a polybag mailer; there is nothing in this short that needs protecting from a courier.

Fabric, print and the sizing caveat

The material is what the listing says: thin polyester, no stretch, a straight hem and a drawstring waist with no elastic recovery to speak of. The all-over 3D print is applied to the cloth rather than sewn on as a patch, and registration held across all three colourways we opened, including the white pair where a thin print would show through first.

Two cautions carried over from our research and worth restating. First, brand-level feedback is not encouraging: the Ralph Lauren online store sits at 1.6 / 5 from 131 Trustpilot reviews, with cheap fabrics and incorrect sizing recurring among the complaints. That is the brand's own store, not this listing, and it does not describe the pair we handled — but it does tell you not to set fabric expectations from the label. Second, Ralph Lauren publishes several fit profiles: Classic-Fit runs roughly a size larger than typical domestic sizing, while Custom-Fit sits closer to Asian body sizing. This listing does not state which profile it follows, so the flat measurements above are the only reliable guide we had.

What remains unverified

We did not settle colourfastness on the multicolour prints, long-term print adhesion, or how the drawstring cord behaves after repeated washing — those sit outside this checkpoint set and we would not report them as confirmed either way. There is also no independent buyer feedback for this exact listing, so the specification is the whole basis for the description. What we can state is what we measured: three pairs, all inside the published tolerance band at its outer edge, 166–171 g each, arriving through the trail in three days and nine hours with the billable weight brought down to the actual packed weight by a repack.

Frequently asked

How long did the trail take from confirmation to courier handoff?
Three days, nine hours and twenty-eight minutes. Purchase took 29 minutes, warehouse intake landed on day two, QC photos came the same afternoon and consolidation was re-weighed the next morning. Treat this as one data point, since seller dispatch times vary.
Did the three colourways weigh the same?
Not exactly. The size L pairs weighed 168 g in navy, 166 g in white and 171 g in red — a 5 g spread, which our scale and print coverage differences can account for.
Is consolidation worth it for a single pair?
No. Our three-pair parcel held 505 g of product but the default carton billed at about 1.77 kg volumetric. For one pair, ask for a polybag mailer and skip the carton entirely.
